Developmental Editing and Art Directing
Have you completed the first draft of your manuscript and need someone else to give you feedback before you dive back in? I got you! I will read your manuscript in full and provide feedback on the big picture elements of your story. This is for authors with a finished manuscript who are looking to address overarching elements like plot, structure, characterization, and style. If this is for an illustrated project it can also include feedback on illustrations, layout, and character design.

Line Editing and Copyediting
This service provides sentence-level feedback and happens after the developmental stage. I'll check for grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and readability. I'll make slight line edits to improve flow while retaining your unique voice.

Sensitivity Reading
This service is designed to support authors writing outside of their own experience. I will review plot, characters, language, and narrative voice to ensure a depicted identity is represented respectfully.

Hello! I am Marina Martinez (she/her) a developmental and line editor who specializes in graphic novels and genre fiction, specifically sci-fi/fantasy and romance. I completed the professional Certificate in Editing from University of Washington and I hold a BA in Animation/Illustration from San Jose State University. In my spare time you can find me learning k-pop dances, practicing piano, and trying to catch up on One Piece.
